As a key step in implementing the National Water Strategy, the assignment agreement for the supervision and management of groundwater and surface-water desalination and purification plants between the Saudi Water Authority and Water Solutions Company represents an important milestone in the approved governance and institutional framework for the Kingdom’s water supply chains.

The assignment covers more than 400 plants across the Kingdom, with total capacities exceeding 4 million m³ per day, building on the efficiency and reliability achievements delivered by qualified national capabilities.

Today we announce an important new player in the water sector: Water Solutions Company, which we aim to position as a valuable addition to the Kingdom’s water ecosystem.

Since the end of 2023, operation and maintenance responsibilities for dam-water and groundwater purification plants have moved to Water Desalination Works. Building on accumulated operational and engineering expertise, the next institutional phase is led by Water Solutions Company to further improve production efficiency, asset performance and reliability.

I was honored to sign the assignment agreement with the Saudi Water Authority, marking an important step in the journey of Water Solutions Company and the beginning of a new phase of responsibility and execution.

We value this trust and recognize the scale of our responsibility in supervising and managing desalination and water purification plants. We will continue building on the sector’s achievements, strengthening operational excellence, improving efficiency and supporting a more reliable and sustainable water system.

Water Desalination Works, the operational arm of the Saudi Water Authority, signed an agreement with the state-owned Water Solutions Company to assign supervision and management responsibilities for more than 400 desalination and water purification plants using groundwater and surface-water sources.

Total production capacities exceed 4 million cubic meters per day, supporting greater reliability and continuity across the water supply system.
